To achieve this, we completely redesigned the binding and refined the cleat-to-binding connection, creating a tighter, more secure fit without sacrificing float. For greater adjustability and control, we engineered springs with a higher maximum tension and a wider range of usable adjustments, allowing you to fine-tune your setup to match your preferences.
If you’re having trouble clipping into the pedal or the binding feels overly tight, even at low tension, there are two adjustments you can make.
First, installing a the provided cleat spacer(s) allows your cleat to make connection with the binding sooner, reducing the interference between the pedal and shoe and making it easier to clip-in.
Second, you can remove the pedal pins to eliminate any additional interference. We recommend starting by adjusting the front pins and then the rear pins, if necessary.
We recommend using our cleats with our pedals. However, Shimano SH51 SPD™ cleats are also compatible. We can't confirm compatibility with, or recommend, any other SPD™ based cleats from other brands. Use these at your own risk.
While we can't guarantee a completely universal fit with the multitude of shoe brands and sizes out there, any shoes with a 2-bolt cleat mounting interface should be compatible. Cleat spacers may be required in some cases.
Our Clip Pedals can be used with or without the pins, but the pins themselves are not height adjustable. They are designed to bottom out in the pin hole, functioning like a standard screw.
If you’re trying to make clipping in easier, we recommend using a cleat spacer first to reduce interference between your shoe and the pedal. If additional adjustments are needed after installing the spacer, you can remove the pins to further minimize interference. Start by removing the front pins, and then the rear pins if necessary.
The hollow design allows dirt to pass through the pin, eliminating the need to pick dirt out before removal. To remove a damaged pin, you can use a 2.5mm Allen key from either the front or back. If removing it from the back, remember to turn clockwise to loosen it. This design ensures easy maintenance and hassle-free removal when damaged.

"A few things to say. I came across OU components as part of a promotion when my wife bought an e-bike. She got some flat pedals. They have been great. I then bought some XC clip in pedals. I had a bit of trouble with these but, in the end, decided it was user error. OU were very responsive to my issues and, with no drama at all, replaced the pedals. So now I have two sets, both perfectly good. Nice to see a manufacturer that backs their reputation. I will be back."
"The unclip mechanics were just different enough for me that I could not be confident with these pedals. Build quality was beautiful and I really wanted to like them, but I’m back on my XTR spd. One up handled the return perfectly, and for that I’m rating them higher. Five stars for service. Two stars for pedals."

"Pins do not touch my Shimano AM9s basically making moot the whole reason I bought these (obviously didn’t install shims). I wanted that “flat pedal feel” they claimed in the marketing video. I feel pretty gullible now! Anyways, I wasn’t in the market for a different shoe but perhaps I’ll look to see if there’s one that mounts the clip deeper into the shoe. Will also check to see if there are longer pins but that isn’t ideal."
"Rode these for 2-3 rides, and will be trying to find someone else for whom they work better. The good: Definitely has some decent traction even if not clipped in, thanks to the pins. Does have a more stable feeling when clipped in than what I'm used to. The bad: Hard to actually clip in. This is with OneUp cleats with cleat spacers and pedal tension minimum. It's also hard to tell when you do get successfully clipped in. The dealbreaker for me is that at least with the spacers installed, I can't wear the same shoes with my other SPD bikes."

"TLDR: Decent pedals, but I’m disappointed with OneUp’s marketing and how they handled my review. In OneUp’s product video (around 0:25), they specifically promote these pedals as having “pins that actually touch your shoes. ” That claim was literally the reason I was interested in them, because it suggests these pedals offer something different from typical clipless pedals. My original review simply stated that with my shoes (Shimano AM9s) the pins do not touch the shoe at all, even with the pins or shims installed. OneUp removed that review, and I later received an email from Tom R. explaining that the pins are primarily intended for those moments when you’re unclipped and riding through a section, and that constant contact would make unclipping more difficult. . . well duh! The issue isn’t that I misunderstood how clipless pedals work. The issue is that OneUp’s marketing specifically highlights these pedals as being different from other clipless pedals because the pins supposedly contact the shoe and provide more of a flat-pedal feel. Anyways, besides that the pedals themselves are decent. Engagement and performance are fine. I want more float and would like to try the new Shimano multi-entry cleats sincs the Oneup cleats are only single entry. At the end of the day my primary criticism is that if you’re going to market the pins as functional and claim they contact the shoe, they should be long enough to actually do so for a wider range of common riding shoes. Riders who want less contact can always shim their cleats to fine-tune the interface."
"Pedal seems like its high quality and I like that its super thin/low profile. However, the cleat sits closer to the base of the pedal than shimano or other similar SPD style pedals. It does come with shims for your shoes, but if you have two bikes with different pedals, they will be too loose. Being so close, I have them set to the weakest release and its still pretty tight. Thats why I would only give them a 4 star rating."
