Tap It In.

Enduro world champions and athletes around the globe choose the EDC Top Cap for their race bikes. It’s light, trustworthy and gives you the most storage options of any in-stem EDC carrier.

FAQ

My tool Is stuck inside the top cap, what do I do?

There are a couple possibilities for this:

1. Is the mutli tool oriented correctly within the EDC tool body? If it is backward and not meshing will the tire lever, the tool will bulge and be difficult to remove

2. The multi tool side plate bolts have loosened off and are jamming against the top cap.

For both situations the solution is to: 1. Loosen the stem bolts

2. Using soft jaw pliers, or pliers with a cloth, loosen off the top cap.

3. pull the top cap and tool off the steerer tube.

4. Either remove the multitool, or tighten the side plate bolts. The tool will then slide out of the top cap and you can reassemble everything correctly.

Please email support@oneupcomponents.com if you have any trouble with this process, or damage anything, and we will be happy to help.

Why is my tool hard to remove from the top cap?

It is likely that the top O-ring is dry. Best thing to do is rub a small amount of grease onto the o-ring and re-install it.

If that does not help, please email us at support@oneupcomponents.com.

Will threading my fork steerer void my fork warranty?

Although some companies will state that threading their steerers will void the warranty, we have not been shown evidence of any failures directly a result of a threaded steerer tube.

Can I install a star nut after threading the steerer tube?

It will likely damaged the threads for further use, but you can if necessary, install a star nut in a steerer tube that has been threaded.

Can I buy just the bottom fork plug?

We do not have the fork plugs available as a single item. they are only available within the top cap kit.

Through headset routing for barspins

"I used this to allow easy routing of the front brake through the headset. Very easy to install and works perfectly!"

Lee B. (5/5)

Wish I had gotten earlier

"After fitting 2 bikes with the threadless EDC holder I had a fork that would not fit one. I had been dubious on threading the steerer tube previously, but figured it was worth a shot. Stupid easy, more storage space. This is the route I will go from now on."

Aaron P. (5/5)

"Great!!!"

Astolfo (5/5)

Edc

"easy to install with the tap, I have done my fox 40 and fox 38 forks now, bit of sanding for the fox 38 to get the tool to fit, 2015 fox 40 only fits small storage on the bottom(tapers down too much for the large storage) super happy with all Oneup component prodaucts"

Mark F. (5/5)

Holds the fork in place

"what else is there to say. It holds the fork in place. That is what it is supposed to do. And it does. Great that I can use a standard tool (believe it is the cassette tool) to screw it on there."

Oskar B. (5/5)

Works well.

"Works well."

Russ R. (5/5)

Overall really nice

"Found it to be an easy install overall if you follow the instructions and ensure enough spacer room above to preload the headset. I had previously noted quite a few people saying the top cap didn’t seat nicely with other cassette tools, resulting in scratching and damage to the top cap. I pre tested my cassette tool and found that there was a lot of play as well. I gave it a wrap with a bit of electrical tape and that was enough to snug it up and prevent damage to the top cap, without affecting the install on two bikes. Otherwise really happy with it. Considering adding one to my commuter bike as well."

Marc (4/5)

Q&A

I need a top cap for a bike that I changed. My older son moved onto a new bike, and I am rebuilding the bike for my younger son. I need just the edc threaded top cap, without spacers and other parts. I do not see that as an option on the website. I need one in blue to match his new build... the orange one sticks out like a sore thumb :)
Hi Patrick, we don't sell the Threaded Top Cap on it's own. I'm sorry about this, but appreciate you checking in.
Hey guys, I'm a little confused on EDC steerer tube tool compatibility with my new fork. I've got a Fox Factory 38 that came on my 2024 Transition Spire, and I'd love to install an EDC V2 tool with the threaded top cap and the bottom plug. My steerer tube is less than 210mm long, but longer than 200mm (hard to measure with a ruler), and it does have the ovalised steerer tube. Are there any EDC products that will work with my fork? I've had OneUp tools in my Fox 36 forks in the past and they're awesome, I'd love to be able to use one on this bike. Thanks for the help! -Adam
Hi Adam, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  Unfortunately Fox made some changes to the steerer tube of the 38s that greatly reduced compatibility with our EDC line. Your fork will unfortunately not fit any of our EDC products. I'd suggest taking a look at our EDC Pumps as an alternative storage method for the V2 EDC Tool. Hope this helps, please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. Cheers,
I have a Trek Dual Sport 3 Gen 5 with carbon fork but aluminum steerer tube, would the EDC Threaded Top Cap be compatible (particularly with the EDC Plug and Pliers kit)?
Hey Trevor, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  Does your steerer have an open bottom? The threadless carrier relies on a bottom plate that retains the bolt head to tension the headset, and without access to the bottom of the steerer it can't be used. If it does, and the steerer tube is at least 190mm, then it's possible it would fit. We haven't been able to test every fork out there so I cannot guarantee fitment. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.  Cheers,
I lost my EDC steerer plug. Is it possible to get a replacement? Thanks.
Hi Guy, Sorry to hear that! Yup I can help you out. Just reply to this email with your shipping address, phone number and receipt for the top cap and I'll get a fresh one sent out for you. Cheers, Tom
The fork compatibility chart is not working for me. Can you tell me if the EDC Threaded top cap will work in a Fox 38 fork? Thanks
Hi Curtis, Sorry to hear that, which year and model is your 38? I'll also need to know the length of your steerer tube. Cheers,
