FAQ

What size of dropper post will fit my bike?

Every rider is different, with different frames and rider inseams, etc. Your best bet is to use our Dropper Post Length Selector. You will need: Your current ride height, the distance from the top of the seat post collar to the middle of your saddle rails. Maximum Frame Insertion measurement. You can find this by inserting a rigid post or tape measure into your frame until it hits an obstruction. Simply plug those into the calculator and we'll give you our recommendation of dropper length based on those measurements.

How regularly should I service my dropper post?

We recommend you do an upper bushing clean-and-grease every 25hrs of riding, a full clean and grease service every 75-100hrs of riding, and a full rebuild every 250-350hrs of riding.

Will this post be compatible with my existing dropper remote?

Most likely, yes.

If your dropper remote is cable clamping (has a bolt to clamp the cable) then yes, it is compatible with our dropper. If your remote does not have a cable clamp bolt, you can purchase the Dropper cable/nut kit. It comes with a cable bushing that can clamp a cable. With this you can set up any none cable clamping remote.

Are the seat clamps compatible with oval carbon rails?

Yes, our seat clamps are fully compatible with 7x9mm & 7x10mm carbon seat rails.

The actuator, inside the post, doesn't line up front to back?

The orientation of the actuator is dependant on the threads in the lower tube. This means the actuator orientation, once tightened up, is arbitrary and different on every post. The actuator orientation cannot be changed without rotating the lower tube on the guide pins.

Why is my post slow to extend when I actuate it?

There can be a few different reasons for slow dropper extension. The first checks should always be:

  1. Check seat collar is torqued no higher than 5Nm.
  2. Check the cable tension is correct and the cable is not kinked, binding or sluggish.
  3. Check the upper bushing is properly greased and there is no evidence of excessive wear.

If your posts continues to extend slowly then please email us at support@oneupcomponents.com and we will help resolve your situation.

Do you sell replacement upper or lower tubes?

We do not have upper and lower tubes available as single items.

What grease should I use to service my post?

OneUp droppers should be serviced using a light suspension grease. All droppers come with a small packet of Slickoleum, but any light suspension grease will do the trick. We do not recommend any lubes, including fork boost on our droppers.

What's the minimum weight required to compress the V3 dropper?

A minimum rider weight of 50lbs is required to fully compress the post.
Make sure to apply force to the nose of your saddle, if you're close to that minimum!

It just works. Every time!

"This dropper is superb! I bought it to replace an older V2 (still works, I was just after a shorter stack), and I've got no complaints. Setup is easy, actuation and any necessary adjustments are simple to make. The post easily survived a recent desert bike tour, so I reckon it's good for anything I can throw at it! Thanks, OneUp!"

Blown away. . . .

"Awesome dropper post. Thought I needed the adjustability but with the crazy low stack height it fits me perfectly. Low weight and rigid. Had to order the gen 3 lever and clamp else due to being out of stock. But got the complete one up setup. The only complaint I have and I'm reaching here is lack of a sticker to rep the company."

Jeremy K. (5/5)

Works well and seems very well built. Zero slop!

"Works much better than the one I had. I am using my original lever and it works great with the V3, The V3 needs about 1/2 as much travel to cause it to release making it much quicker to drop and raise. My only complaint it the drop is simply too much. I don't ever want to drop my post more than 2 inches. I bought the 120 but shortening it to the 100 causes the seat to be too low and buying a longer post would just allow for a wider range and not really accomplish my preferred setup."

James H. (4/5)

One seat post to rule them all

"Really amazing system. This is my first time installing a dropper seat post and I was able to complete the install without any issues. The seat post works flawlessly and I’m excited to continue using it"

Steven O. (5/5)

"Great components! Kind of disappointed that the 180 V3 dropper has more fore/aft play in it than my other 2 V3 150 and 210 travel one up droppers. Was the other reason aside from adjustability, as to why i replaced my bontrager. Is this normal ?"

Chris (4/5)

"Rippin dropper! Love One Up components. High quality and user friendly serviceability. Got another 20mm of dropper on my Kenevo SL (from stock dropper)."

Brian P. (5/5)

Nice action with a little rotational slop.

"Whatever holds the seat straight has a bit more play than I would expect. I love the arrows on the seat clamp that indicate which way is forward. The action of the shock is very good as well and the oneup lettering is a nice way to indicate seat height."

Lynn (4/5)

Stop shopping droppers, save yourself some time and just buy the V3 post .

"Perfect, exceeded my expectations! Their customer service is top notch as well. I highly recommend doing business with these fantastic people/company."

Jeffrey K. (5/5)

Easy to install. Seems to work well.

"Very easy to install and functions great. Not trail tested yet and I also need to figure out how to best use it. Also appears well made."

John B. (5/5)

One Up V3 Dropper Post works!

"This is a very well made and reliable post. It goes down when you need it to but most importantly, it comes up when you need it to! Great product!!"

Q&A

rearward seat clamp bolt on my V3 dropper is not long enough to get my preferred saddle tilt. Are longer bolts available?
Hey Shawn, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  We don't make longer bolts, as in most cases they are long enough. Does your bike have a particularly slack seat tube angle? And are you running your saddle very nose down? If you can send me over a photo of your set up I can see what we can do to help here. Cheers,
Which dropper will work with a Salsa Cutthroat V2 60 cm frame
You will what a 27.2mm diameter dropper. In that spec we have either the 90mm or 120mm lengths. to ensure you get the right length use dropper calc: https://www.oneupcomponents.com/pages/dropper-post-length-selector but if your on a 60mm frame I am going to assume you'll be on the 120mm dropper! Let us know if you need anything else,
I recently purchased your V3 dropper. do you recommend anti seize or a carbon paste or anything when installing the post into a carbon frame?
Hi Brian, Thanks for your message, I'm happy to help.  Best practice is to add either high quality waterproof grease, or carbon paste when installing the post into the frame. Generally there's no issues between the carbon and aluminum, however we'd still suggest a light coating. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.  Cheers,
Do the use internal cable?
Hi, yes, our dropper posts are for bikes with internal cable routing only. Hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions!
Do you make any droppers with external routing? I have a Throxus Explorer Plus Ebike and I'm not sure if I'm able to use internal routing. Thanks, Lindsay
Hi Lindsay, we don't make an externally routed post. Sorry about this.
